First you have to figure out in which state you have more work. Contractor licenses are non transferable and only work for their own state so we highly recommend that you get your contractor’s license from the state where you work the most.

For Maryland a test must be taken. In Virginia, depending on the type of license you need to take one or several tests. For Washington DC, Delaware and Pennsylvania, you don’t need to take a test.
