MHIC ENGLISH
We are a company that help contractors in the metropolitan area to obtain their home improvement license. In order to obtain the MHIC license you will need to have a SSN, or an ITIN number.
Classes and exam: The first step in order to apply for the license is that you will need to pass an exam regarding the laws of home improvement in the state of Maryland, the exam contains 60 questions and you will need to answer at least 39 questions correctly in order to pass the exam. The length of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes so you will have enough time to answer each question and go over the exam. You will be presenting the exam at the Psi, which is an entity approved by the state and you will likely be sitting next to someone who may be applying for the nurse and the real state license. The Psi has numerous locations including Baltimore, Lanham, Hagerstown, Salisbury, Crofton and College Park. This is why we will make sure to prepare you so you can pass the exam, our classes are designed so you can take them outside of your work schedule, the class will be on two Saturdays on a row from nine am to three pm. If there’s any chance that you do not pass the exam the first time, we will make sure to offer you additional classes with no extra charge, but you will need to continue paying the fee to the Psi.
Application: After you have taken the classes and pass the exam you will need to complete a package with your company information in order to obtain the license. We will need the information of your company, if you do not have one we can help you register the company, we will also need the information of your insurance and we will also need to demonstrate an amount of $20,000 in order to obtain the license.
You may be able to prove this financial capacity in various ways which will include:
~ Bank statements: They only accept information from your personal bank account not from your company, if you possess this amount in your bank you may be able to prove the amount as long as it has been there longer than one year.
~ Properties: You will be able to demonstrate the amount that is required with your properties, the properties eligible include cars, houses and work vans. Lets say you purchased a car 5 years ago by the amount of $30,000, I will check what is the current value of the car, and I find out that the car is currently worth $22,000 which is great because it will mean that we can apply with that single car but then I check your credit and find out that you have a loan from sears of $4,000 which means that in reality your net worth is $18,000 so we will need at least $3,000 in order to qualify so the idea would be to compare your debt and your earnings to create a balance of at least $20,000.
~ Indemnitor: The third choice would be to do the same process but with another person, in case that you do not qualify. Preferably it would be ideal for you to apply with someone you trust, you can do so with a friend, family or your boss, we will need to have the indemnitor present because we will need the bank statements and credit report.
~ Surety bond: The last choice would be to apply with a bond which means that you will pay an insurance company an amount according to your credit score, social security or tax id, and they will charge you a specific amount for the two years of the license. This does not mean that you will be paying $20,000 to the insurance, it means that you will pay an amount according to your credit, it ranges from $370 to $500 with a high credit score, or $1,000 with a low credit score for the two years of your license.
